As the entertainment world celebrated the best in television in Los Angeles, one of the music industry’s biggest bands dropped a bombshell.
PopWrapped can confirm that the two-time Grammy-winning band Mumford & Sons will be taking a break.
The band told Rolling Stone that they would be taking a long break after performing in Bonner Springs, Kansas.
“There won’t be any Mumford & Sons activities for the foreseeable future,” said keyboardist Ben Lovett.
When Rolling Stone’s Patrick Doyle asked Lovett how long will the band be taking a break, the keyboardist replied: “We have no idea. We just know we’re going to take a considerable amount of time off and just go back to hanging out and having no commitments or pressure or anything like that. It feels like the last week of school right now, before school holiday when you’re in high school. The atmosphere on the road is one of . . . I think everyone’s excited about being free of schedules.”
This has been a rough year for the London folk rockers as the band’s bassist Ted Dwane underwent emergency surgery for a blood clot.
Before Mr. Dwane became ill, he told the legendary music magazine that the band had some difficult time adjusting to performing in larger venues.
“We have a bigger responsibility to be in better form. We can’t be dropping the set 20 minutes because Marcus has tired legs.” Dwane told the magazine. “We definitely want a little break. We’re going to have a little rest.”
PopWrapped wants to wish Mumford & Sons the best as they take their hiatus.
