Beyonce, The Chainsmokers, Tinashe, and so many other artists are serving something fierce on this week's #MusicMonday playlist!
This week we at PopWrapped had a task in front of us, as we sorted through commercials, halftime performances, late night show appearances, and social media to find the best new tracks of the week, but we're pretty certain that we have them all here! Pay close attention, because we're pretty sure that this #MusicMonday playlist is filled with some of the certified hottest hits of 2016 thus far!
"Pep Rally" - Missy Elliott
Missy Elliott amped up the energy in the hours leading up to yesterday's (February 7) Super Bowl with the release of "Pep Rally." On the track the "Lose Control" femcee spits some certified fire over a bouncy production. She may not have starred in this year's Halftime show, but she still had one of the brightest moments of the game...
"Don't Panic" - Clairity
Rising synth-pop sensation Clairity induces chills with her cover off Coldplay's deep cut "Don't Panic," which is set for inclusion in the soon to be released X-Men: Apocalypse. Clairity provides the somber track with a much needed update, as the piano led ballad transforms into an ominous masterpiece with the addition of strings and her captivating voice. The production swells and builds to a crescendo under Clairity's haunting vocal performance, but the rising talent never gets lost within the production. Instead, her vocals almost seem to command the production to rise with her to new and unexplored heights. "Don't Panic" will undoubtedly find itself comfortably at home within the scope of the upcoming X-Men drama, and until then it is an absolute MUST LISTEN on any #MusicMonday playlist!
"Formation" - Beyonce
In the days leading up to her highly anticipated Super Bowl appearance, Beyonce went and pulled... well, she pulled a Beyonce with yet another surprise release! Teaming up with Mike WiLL Made-It for production and featuring a contribution from rapper Big Freedia, Beyonce is taking a decidedly more urban approach on "Formation." Accompanied by a politically charged visual, the track also features some of Bey's most confident lyrics to date. "My Daddy Alabama, Mama Louisiana, you mix that Negro with that Creole make a Texas Bama" Bey proudly declared over the banging production before commanding her ladies to get in formation. Ladies (and gentlemen) across the globe will undoubtedly be complying with the request as they bump to this on #MusicMonday.
"My Girl" - The Fooo Conspiracy
Time for a little bit of pristine Swede pop straight from the country's brightest rising boyband. Swiss pop stars The Fooo Conspiracy take things directly to the dance floor on their horn-heavy mid-tempo "My Girl." The guys deliver impassioned vocals over the tightly produced track, and the result is a truly compelling release. Here's to hoping that The Fooo Conspiracy will turn their attention towards an American takeover in the coming months, because we're ready for even more from the hitmakers.
"Once In A While" - Timeflies
Timeflies take a moment to reflect on their thoughts and even more time to dance it all out on their joyful new release "Once In A While." Featuring a striding production and some playful lyrics, the duo achieve a commendable sense of carefree fun as the track moves into it's chorus. The addition of a rapped verse to the playful pop production injects the release with the duo's distinctive sound and keeps things from feeling a little stale. This is one of those songs that will leave you bopping along without a care in the world, which makes it the perfect #MusicMonday track to listen to while making the return to your workweek flow.
"Don't Let Me Down" The Chainsmokers feat. Daya
Alex and Drew of The Chainsmokers are back at it following the raging success of their dreamy "Roses," and things just keep getting better! After performing "Roses" on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show the duo followed up with their rousing Daya-assisted "Don't Let Me Down." Instead of rehashing the dream pop roots of their previous single, Alex and Drew kept things moving steadily forward with a fresh, guitar assisted production that will take you right to the dance floor. The magic truly happens as the production moves into it's third drop, and we have to assume that The Chainsmokers have yet another HUGE hit on their hands.
"Old Habits Die Hard" - Allie X
If we had our way, we'd feature rising synth-pop songstress Allie X on every #MusicMonday playlist, so we're more than ready to share her latest icy release "Old Habits Die Hard." The track serves as the first official taste of the Canadian siren's Collxtion II EP, and it sees the songstress returning to a toxic lover's grasp regardless of her efforts to cut things off. "Every time I say goodbye I find a way to justify running to your arms" Allie X coos across the strident production. The track displays a new way to discuss addiction, and it is becoming increasingly evident that Allie X is one of the most innovative artists on the scene with every new release.
"Something New" - Zendaya feat. Chris Brown
Zendaya is growing up and ready to try "Something New" on the Chris Brown-assisted release from her upcoming second LP this #MusicMonday. Featuring a sample of TLC's "Creep" on the production, it is pretty evident from the first listen that Zendaya has what is potentially a massive hit on her hands. The sound is more R&B infused than what we have heard on her earlier releases, but we're excited to see Zendaya usher in a new era of releases.
"Heartbeat" - Temecula Road
Country trio Temecula Road inject Carrie Underwood's "Heartbeat" with a sense of youthful whimsy. Stripping back some of the production and adding some heartfelt harmonies gives the performance an individualized feel, and the group's sense of conviction on the performance makes the performance even more heartfelt. The cover has received an endorsement from Carrie Underwood herself, meaning that it practically needs to find a spot on a #MusicMonday list!
"Ride Of Your Life" - Tinashe

Tinashe vows to take fans on the ride of their life on her latest single from her forthcoming Joyride LP. The track elevates Tinashe's vocals over a slick urban production, and the rising R&B siren brings the fire with the double-entendre strewn lyrics. There is a raw and primal feel to Tinashe's confidence on the performance, and it is becoming more evident that Joyride will be an album to keep an eye out for as we move further into 2016...
