While most actors, celebrities or basically anyone involved with the global film industry would love to have an Oscar, one of those who actually has won could not care less for her trophy.
And that person is Academy award winner Natalie Portman, who won her award for Best Actress with her amazing performance in Black Swan.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress was asked where she kept her Oscar statuette. Natalie replied, “I don’t know where it is,” then she added “I think it’s in the safe or something. I don’t know. I haven’t seen it in a while. I mean, Darren (Aronofsky) actually said to me something when we were in that whole thing that resonated so deeply. I was reading the story of Abraham to my child and talking about, like, not worshipping false idols. And this is literally like gold men. This is literally worshipping gold idols — if you worship it. That’s why it’s not displayed on the wall. It’s a false idol.”
Natalie Portman of course is not the only movie star to take her Academy award lightly. The Legendary ‘First Lady of Cinema’ , Katharine Hepburn who holds the record for the most Oscars in the acting categories with four wins for Best Actress, did not even bother to receive her trophies during the ceremonies.
But then what do you think, is Natalie Portman right when referring to the Oscars as a false idol? Hit the comments below.
