Coming 2014, be prepared to take a walk of the wild side with Natalie Portman. The actress stars in the Relativity Media western, Jane Got a Gun. Joel Edgerton stars alongside the actress as her ex-lover. Ewan McGregor is slotted to portray the leader of a criminal gang. In the United States, the film will be released in August 29, 2014. However, there is no confirmed release date for viewers in the UK. So, if you live in the United Kingdom and are interested in seeing this film, keep on the lookout for the important date. Jane Got a Gun follows the story of a woman searching for help. She needs to “save her outlaw husband (Noah Emmerich)”. Her husband is being hunted by a vengeful gang out to spill his blood. This film has had its share of bumps. After the first day of production the “original director Lynne Ramsay” quit without giving notice only to be replaced by Gavin O’Conner (the acclaimed writer and direct of Sundance Film Festival favorite Tumbleweeds). The film’s producer is now suing Ramsay for her abrupt exit. If you can’t wait until 2014 for a performance by Natalie Portman, you can check her out in Thor 2: The Dark World in which she plays Jane Foster. You can also see the actress in the Austrian 2-minute short, Illusions & Mirrors. While a mere 180-seconds, there is a rich storyline in this piece. Ultimately, “it’s about futile attempt of chasing a shadow that wanders through the dunes of an empty beach.” What do you think of the film Jane Got a Gun? Do you think it’s going to be a basic story of woman saving husband? Do you think Portman’s character will rekindle a romance with her ex? Could this western be good or is this genre dead?
