NCIS Announces New Character In Wake Of Cote De Pablo's Departure

How many of you are still mourning over Cote De Pablo’s departure from CBS’ hit NCIS? Get ready because producers of the show aren’t letting that stop them from casting a new actress to take the place of De Pablo’s character Ziva.

For some of you that don’t know who Ziva exactly is, she was introduced in the season 3 episode “Kill Ari (Part 1)”. She was appointed as a liason officer among Eli and Jenny. She has held this position for four years before  she went back to Mossad in the season 6 episode “Aliyah”. In this episode, she was snatched by thugs in Somalia during a stint for Mossad, which she was assumed that she was dead but then she ended up being saved by Gibbs, Tony, and McGee, which all of them brought Ziva back to America. Since the events caused to end her service from Mossad, she then requested for a job as a NCIS agent, having to swear that she is a U.S. citizen.

The TV network has confirmed that casting is in the works for a twenty-something female role named Bishop, whom is defined as “brilliant, accomplished, vigorous, alluring, sweet, concentrated, and considerably socially uncomfortable.” The character is also described as someone who has a puzzling combination of investigative intelligence, passionate courage and optimism. Bishop’s debut date is rumored to be in mid-October.TVLine was the first to release the casting analysis.

The chief director Gary Glasberg announced to TVLine that in advance to Bishop’s arrival, NCIS will “interchange some entertaining people” in the work office: “We are in process to gather people like that and enjoy some entertainment with distinct personalities. In addition to optimistically when everyone is pleased with the changes one character would walk in and be The One.”

Even though Ziva’s departure will most likely be difficult for long time viewers of the TV series, those fans can be guaranteed that Ziva will not be wiped out in the final two episodes of her appearance. There will also be a outcome to her on/off again fling with Michael Weatherly’s character Tony.

What do you all think of this new character? Will you be tuning into a Ziva-less NCIS?
