The local police are authorities that citizens are supposed to be able to count on. Officers are regarded as heroes; oftentimes stepping in when the people of their city need them the most. While this fact is not to be taken lightly, sometimes a police officer can be downright negligent to the point of complete and utter shame being brought down upon their force and their people because of it. This is one of those moments.
After a mere slap on the hands by his department in the form of a day’s docked pay, Deputy Micah McNinch is receiving rightful backlash over the web for being the cause of a mother’s death. According to Wayne Ables, the deputy pulled him over at 2 a.m. to issue him a speeding ticket. The reason he was speeding, though, was to rush his mom who was suffering from severe breathing issues to the hospital. McNinch had refused escorting Ables and his mother to the hospital to make up for lost time, and after 11 minutes had passed between the two parties, the mother had passed on in the backseat of Ables’ truck.
This happened way back in March 2009 and Ables has yet to receive any compensation for his loss. Not that compensation could ever make up for the loss of a mother who may have still had more time on Earth left in her if not for the actions of a negligent officer.
