He really is the Host with the most. Yes, the wonder of life that is Neil Patrick Harris is in talks for his own variety show on NBC next year. Sign me up! A spoke-person from NBC has said that the variety show will include sketches, musical numbers, games and quizzes, and it is noted that it might follow in the vein of the popular UK TV show Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, although it won’t air on Saturday nights. Harris released a statement to Vulture earlier saying:
Nothing like this has been done before. It fits right into my random skill set. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and have some fun.
Neither can we, Neil. Neither can we. Neil Patrick Harris is a man of many talents. While many of his know him as lovable Lothario Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother, or as Dr. Horrible from Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along blog (a personal favourite), many also know his many talents both on stage and off, directing productions like Rent  in L.A., and starring as Hedwig in the phenomenal Hedwig and the Angry Itch. Aside from his acting talent, Neil is also an incredible host, as we’ve seen on multiple occasions including the Tonys and the Emmys. Better yet, it was confirmed this week that Harris would also be hosting next year’s Academy Awards, and is bound to bring his patented charm to the show. All in all, this is a fantastic venture for Harris, and for us as an audience. We just can’t get enough of the lovable, talented, wonderful man. Between writing a book, hosting award shows, starring in David Fincher’s Gone Girl, getting married and this new show, it’s all coming up Neil. Are you excited for the Neil Patrick Harris Extravaganza? What d you think it should be called, and do you think we’ll ever tire of the man of multiple talents? I doubt it, but let us know in the comments, PopWrappers.
