It’s no secret that How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris has the gift of hosting. He has the charm and charisma to capture the audience, as well as the comedic timing and ability to entertain. He’s hosted the Tony Awards four times and is about to host the Primetime Emmys for the second time; so when might we see him take on the Academy Awards?
“When they ask me?” Harris told E! News. “That’s the kind of question if you say, ‘No, I don’t want to do it,’ you look like a d—k. And if you say, ‘I’m dying to do it,’ you look like a d—k. So you’re kind of left in the middle.”
If Harris were to get the hosting gig he would join the ranks of hosts including Billy Crystal, James Franco and Anne Hathaway, Steve Martin and Ellen DeGeneres. Producers of the Oscars, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have tried to get this year’s host, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, to return in 2014 however he isn’t available to do so.
If you missed NPH’s Tony’s gig this year, you can still catch him on September 22nd as he hosts the 65th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. And maybe if his hosting streak continues, we’ll see him at the Oscars on March 2nd, 2014.
