After a cliffhanger of an ending for season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet, Netflix has announced that there will be a season 3. We are so excited and grateful for more! Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant will return as the happy couple dealing with zombieism while still juggling their day to day lives. The entire cast will return for the show’s third round in 2019 for ten new episodes, and let us tell you, this show is so bingeable that those will fly by.
Warning, the next section will contain spoilers for season 2. Showrunner Victor Fresco stated, on the renewal, "There's always more story. The whole season one took place over two weeks and season two takes place over two weeks, so they're still only about a month into this incredible change that they're going through.” And, he’s so very very right. The last we saw on the show involved a cop, who was about to turn Barrymore and Olyphant in for their murders, now believes Barrymore is the chosen and sent from God, worthy of her service. Nathan Fillion returned in season 2 as just a head, a head that wanted to die, and that’s what they were taking care of until the officer appeared. Now, he’s still alive, no one’s going to jail but possibly being worshiped as deities, and, did we mention, their daughter blew up a site where controversial things would be going on? Things are not slowing down for the Hammonds and we can only imagine what kind of trouble they’ll get into next. We didn’t even go into detail on all the insanity that occured last season, but you can read our recap for more.
