A horrifying rumor has been circulating lately: Netflix has been toying with the idea of adding advertising segments to its programming.
It reads like the plot of an upcoming scary movie, I know.
Netflix has tons of loyal fans and subscribers, so it should come as no surprise that this rumor has most of them worried. One of the best parts about Netflix is that you get to skip all that nonsense; once you press play, you’re free to binge-watch your favorite programs or movies for hours on end without any interruption.
Thankfully, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings finally addressed this disconcerting possibility on Facebook and put the rumor to rest: “No advertising coming onto Netflix. Period. Just adding relevant cool trailers for other Netflix content you are likely to love.”
Though trailers are still considered advertisements, they’re still loads better than the kind of commercial advertisements many had probably been expecting. Personally, I wouldn't mind getting a sneak peek of an upcoming Netflix original series, especially as most of them have become favorites of mine. With the success of shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, who can blame Netflix for wanting to further spread the word of their amazing original content?
Are you guys for or against preview trailers coming to Netflix?
