, set to start filming later this year.
is a thriller series that revolves around a character named Danny, who is described
to be “a gregarious, hedonistic, but ill-equipped spy”.
Danny is also said to be portrayed as an “innocent, young romantic”, as he falls for antisocial Alex, before he disappears off of the street. Danny is faced with a difficult decision; is he good enough to find Alex?
The drama will be set in London, on a street which has the headquarters of the Secret Intelligence Service on one side and the headquarters of the gay clubbing scene on the other.
When asked about his first TV show, Smith said, “It's very exciting to have one of the best production companies in the country, Working Title, produce my first contemporary spy thriller series for BBC Two, unarguably the most prestigious home for drama in the UK.”
Everyone at BBC seems excited about this project, including Polly Hill, the head of independent drama commissioning at BBC. She said, “This is a beautifully written love story, caught up in a spy thriller – a wonderfully complex and surprising story, of one man’s search for the truth.
“It promises to be a treat for the BBC Two audience, continuing the channel’s commitment to original authored drama," she added.
Jane Hadlow, BBC Two controller continued, "Drama on BBC Two has seen an incredible resurgence, and I'm thrilled to be welcoming this gripping new series to the channel, written by an exciting talent."
