Hercules: The Legend Beings film has changed its official title in an attempt to distinguish itself from the second upcoming Hercules-based film set for release in 2014. The new official title is The Legend of Hercules.
What is now The Legend of Hercules features Twilight’s Kellan Lutz as the title character, and will be released on January 10 – over a month earlier than originally scheduled. The second contender in the Hercules film-ring, Hercules: The Thracian Wars starring Dwayne Johnson, opens July 25.
With two seemingly similar movies ready to hit theaters in 2014, some distinguishes should be mentioned. Legend is directed by Die Hard’s Renny Harlin and focuses on the hero’s origin story. In director Brett Ratner’s Thracian Wars, the story follows the graphic novel which it hailed from, where Hercules is left to fend for himself following the loss of his powers.
The Legend of Hercules hits theaters in the US on January 10. The thrilling trailer can be watched below.
