The X-Files is returning in a six-episode mini-series and Fox has released a new cryptic teaser that will boggle your mind, just like the original series.

It has been 13 years since the original ended, and the last time we saw Agent Muldur and Scully was in a film seven years ago.

“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” said series creator Chris Carter. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

Oh, we agree with that statement, Chris. Details of the plot are obviously as mysterious as the show, so the best we can do is discern them from the teaser, which shows Scully in form, holding a gun, and then there is the always-present injection.

The X-Files mini-series is set to premiere on January 24, 2016 on Fox.
