Nicholas Braun, who played Ponytail Derek in The Perks of Being a Wallflower last year, is now in negotiations for the Poltergeist reboot.
Braun has had some experience with the paranormal with his latest film, The Kitchen Sink. Coming out in October next year, The Kitchen Sink has Braun in a battle royal involving vampires, zombies and aliens. The remake of Poltergeist will see if Braun is up to handling a whole different type of scary-supernatural.
The Poltergeist reboot is being put together a whopping 31 years after the original 1982 film. The reboot will tell the story of the Bowen family, who find their daughter abducted by menacing supernatural forces. Reuters reports that Braun is negotiating for the role of a grad student who videotapes the investigation.
Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt are both confirmed as the Poltergeist’s leads, with Jared Harris in a supporting role.
In an interview with HitFix, Rockwell said that the remake will depart from the classic 1982 version, which Stephen Spielberg co-wrote and produced.
Is this a reboot that you’ll want to see?
