Hailing from Sydney, Australia Nick de la Hoyde is a bright talent rising onto the music scene. After realizing his passion for music at 15 years old, Nick developed a habit of reimagining the lyrics to his favorite songs as a way to express himself. Now 21 years old, the Aussie-born crooner is impressing the masses with his creative process.

With a varied musical taste, Nick de la Hoyde strives to create music that breaks down barriers between genres. Incorporating elements of hip-hop, rap, alternative rock, pop, soul, R&B, and spoken word poetry, Nick began to create his own music. His efforts in the studio coalesced into the release of his debut EP Passion last year, and his status as a rising talent was cemented by the powerful release.

Since then Nick has continued recording solo material, and he remains true to his roots by continuing to reimagine popular tracks on his YouTube page. Reinterpreting releases from the likes of Justin Bieber, Adele, Zayn Malik, and Troye Sivan has allowed Nick to showcase his vocal abilities as well as his creative abilities between solo releases, and he continues to amaze!

Most recently Nick de la Hoyde has turned his attention to Lukas Graham's contemplative "7 Years," and it's a must listen. Nick's source material is currently sitting pretty in the top 5 of Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart, and it has become Graham's first international success. Reflecting upon the speed with which life passed you by, the track resonates with the masses and is a powerful release.

Nick's take on the track, if possible, adds even another layer of depth to the release. In typical Nick de la Hoyde format the cover begins by paying homage to the original lyrics before receiving a little de la Hoyde twist of sorts. This time the twist entails the addition of a new rapped verse, on which the Aussie-born musician reflects on the temporal quality of life.

Speaking of heartbreak, new adventures, and personal growth, Nick's verse perfectly encapsulates the concept of the original performance while putting his own spin on the track. There is a sense of humanity and self-awareness to the verse, which makes it all the more powerful within the context of the song.

Take a listen to Nick de la Hoyde's new take on the track below!

It's beyond impressive to see how de la Hoyde is capable of reinterpreting a track while still making it his own. The rising talent is truly someone to keep an eye out for, especially as he continues moving forward with his own original material.

Speaking of original material, last month Nick de la Hoyde gave fans a taste of things to come with a new music video for his current single "Changing." Check out the colorful visual and get a sense for the artist's genre-defying style below!
