Nick Leidl Showcases Musical Skills with Charting Success on Debut Release

Though we have close to the same name, Nick Leidl has WAY more talent than I can ever think of having. Nick Leidl has always been entertainment’s jack of all trades, but his newest project is releasing and creating new music for his audience.

Nick’s journey in music started off small and grew incredibly quickly. Nick looks back fondly on his start in music, which began with local DJing, “I started as a mobile DJ in high school and really loved music. It caught on fairly quickly and I became a local DJ in my scene. I was doing tons of events by the time I was 17, booked every weekend. Around that same time, I started writing lyrics and it came very naturally to me. The musical portion started later in my life after I started performing stand-up comedy. I was writing comedic songs with the intention of making people laugh. Then it migrated over to me wanting to express different emotions rather than comedy within my songs,” Nick said.

Music has always been a constant in Nick Leidl’s life, but comedy has also shared a big part of his passion. Nick began his true journey in the entertainment world with stand-up comedy. After dedicating his life to comedy and relocating to L.A. with the support of his followers, Nick shot his first 1-hour comedy special named Irrational Commitment. Nick shares that there is a vast difference between the comedy and music worlds, but there are also many similarities he has found.

He states, “Let me answer this honestly – you take so much rejection in comedy. It’s really brutal on the mind. It was exciting for me to try a different benchmark for personal growth and success within the music industry. I always believed in my music,” Nick explains. “It really heightened when I saw the success of the song. There are a lot of similarities between the two industries, but it was very cool to see this happen. A lot of my comedy fans were wondering how to react to the song, but they ended up just giving me full support. When it came out it was so special to get warm responses from my fan base and to see their reaction.  It’s cool to see that my fans are just fans of me in general and will follow my lead in whatever I want to do next.”

Nick released his debut single “Friend Zone” on February 12th, which had incredible charting success on iTunes All-Genre and iTunes Country.

When quarantine hit, Nick began writing song after song, including his latest single release, “Friend Zone.” His plan is to release his next single “Jealous” in the near future and will be releasing a new song every 60 days in the foreseeable future. His musical sound is very eclectic and includes inspiration from Jimmy Buffet, Old Dominion, and even Adam Sandler.

Leidl is very focused on his artistry and especially loves expressing his true emotion in his songs, “There is such a vulnerability to my lyrics which I am the proudest of. You can hone in on how I was feeling while writing in every song. That is just something I was never able to portray in comedy. In comedy, you always have to find the joke, but in music, you can stay within the emotion that you’re writing about.”

Leidl shares, “The real start to the music came when Covid-19 hit and dried up all of my comedy stuff. I started playing my guitar and a month later I had 17 songs. Now they’re all cut and ready to be released. I’m a bit of a jack of all trades when it comes to the entertainment world, which I take great pride in.

Nick is thrilled with this success of his single and feels as though it pushes him to be a better artist. “There is a combination of validation that meets motivation and what I like is that it proves my hunch that I would be able to grow in music. Now it gives me the motivation to put out better and better music and push my talent to the max,” he said.
