Nicki Minaj helps influence Saudia Arabia Government Changes

Just last month, Nicki Minaj took to social media to explain the reason for canceling her festival show in Saudia Arabia. The show was set to take place in July and 50,000+ would have been in attendance. Updates are now underway.

Though it took many of us by surprise when the offer to play in Saudia Arabia was accepted, Nicki held nothing back when explaining the reason for canceling. However, her canceling her show may just have influenced some changes to their Government and the law, alongside the work from Saudi Arabian women, activists, etc.

As you may or may not know, currently, where women are required to cover up in public, a lot of businesses are segregated by gender, etc. Also noting that women were also required to get permission from their male “guardians” to leave the country or to obtain a passport. Thankfully, some of these regulations are going through some revamping and we think that they are long overdue.

“After better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community, and freedom of expression,” Minaj explained on Twitter. Now less than a month later, Nicki has returned to Twitter to retweet a few updates that are now underway.

We are thrilled about these updates and the story is still developing. We are really excited for the changes Saudi Women, Saudi Men, and activists have been fighting for. We really hope that these changes continue to happen, and Human Rights are acknowledged and honored. You can follow along with all the updates on PopWrapped as well as AJ+.
