As my city prepares to bid farewell to our great Yankees captain at the end of this baseball season, Derek Jeter’s sponsor, Nike, has created a moving commercial in his honor.

It’s called, creatively, “Re2pect”, an ode to the shortstop’s jersey number.

The short video features members of New York’s Finest, basketball legend Michael Jordan, and even fans of our longtime rivals the Boston Red Sox, all tipping their baseball caps in respect to the beloved five-time World Series winner.

Jeter announced in February that this would be his last season with the Bronx Bombers.
