Christa Tintelnot If Nikola Tesla were alive today, he would probably be celebrating his 158th birthday in style. You see, billionaire CEO Elon Musk of Tesla Motors and SpaceX pledged a million dollars in support of the new Tesla Museum, which is being planned on Long Island, NY.
The museum, which will be placed at Tesla’s own laboratory at Wardenclyffe, will feature a number of his inventions which still impact our lives today. It will include an “innovation station” where budding entrepreneurs can turn their own ideas into real products and a “hacker lab”, where people will be able to work on prototypes of their very own inventions.
Musk’s donation has not been the only one to support the museum, however. Over a million dollars was also raised thanks to a grassroots project to save Wardenclyffe from being sold to land developers.
Though all of this is great the site, which hasn’t been kept up since 2012, still needs a lot of work. The museum is also launching its own campaign, “Buy a Brick for Nik,” which will allow people to buy and inscribe a brick that will be used in the construction of the new building.
