Nintendo Announces 2016 Release Of Pokemon Sun And Pokémon Moon

Nintendo has announced that not only will we celebrate twenty years of Pokemon in 2016, but we’ll also celebrate the release of Pokemon Sun & Moon!

February 27, 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Pokémon Red and Green.  Fans have seen six different generations of the game with more than 700 Pokémon to be caught on the never ending journey to be the best. Now a new generation of the massively popular game will soon be released

The quest to be a Pokémon master is far from over with Nintendo officially announcing the late 2016 release of the 7th generation of Pokémon with Pokémon Sun and Moon for the Nintendo 3DS.

Fans heard rumors of the seventh generation shortly before the formal announcement, but the prospect for a new world of adventures is hard to resist.

This newly released trailer pays homage to the previous generations of the franchise as well as the different evolution of the Game Boy Systems that allowed players to immerse themselves in the world. There’s various clips of game play, trading, exploring, and battling throughout the different games. It was also a nice touch to see the wide age range of people playing on the various Game Boy systems, including a brief moment where children are trading via the Link Cable and a family is playing together.

It isn’t until the very end where we get to see some glimpses into the new world of Sun and Moon. There’s a brief look at a redesigned look for Pikachu as well as possible new graphics as the players will explore this new land.

It’s safe to assume that we’ll probably get a new set of starter Pokémon and a whole new batch of Pokémon to train, breed, battle, and ultimately love.

All the games have their own uniqueness that has players still coming back for more. Despite the concept still being the same as it was 20 years ago, players are still continuing their journeys to build up their teams in new lands with new teams and become a Pokémon master.

More information on the game can be found at Pokémon.com as time gets closer to the release date of the 2016 Holiday Season. Until then? Break out your Game Boys and keep on playing to be the world’s greatest trainer in honor of 20 years of this franchise.
