This week, on Dancing With The Stars, our couples will pay homage to some of the most famous dances to ever hit the silver screen. Fan favorites Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough will be dancing a Rumba influenced by one of the most iconic dances of all from the 1987 film, Dirty Dancing. And yes, they are going to do “The Lift!”
Derek Hough revealed on Instagram a picture sure to make any 80’s kid’s heart explode with feels when he shared with us a glimpse of the couple practicing for Monday night.
In a recent post over at TVGuide.com, Derek wrote about practicing the lift saying:
I don’t normally do lifts and I never really have done those on the show. And this is a really difficult lift to do. We try every day and we’ve gotten really close. Yesterday, we went to a lake — and I use that term loosely. It was more of a smelly bog. It was in the Hills. There’s a little reservoir and it was so gross. The silt was like 3-feet deep. When you stepped in it, the bubbles popped. Believe me, I did not choose that location! But it was actually really fun.
Luckily, Irwin and Hough have been getting advice straight from the source when he revealed that Baby, herself, actress Jennifer Grey (and former DWTS champion) stopped by rehearsals to offer a few pro tips. Hough wrote, “We can’t disappoint her!”
If past dances are any indication, Grey will be far from disappointed! Irwin has charmed judges and audiences with her bright smile and positivity. And Hough and Irwin together have dazzled with their performances, earning the first, perfect “10” of the season in a gorgeous tribute to Bindi’s late father, Steve.
