When it comes to casting for the reboot of The Crow, the rumour mill is in full swing again, this time with reports that Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) is the “top choice” to play James. For those familiar with the original 1994 film, you will undoubtedly realise that there is no character called James, and speculation on who this new ‘James’ could be ranges from “he’s being considered for the part of "James," without anyone really knowing who "James" would be in the new story just yet” to  “it's unknown if this role is for one of Eric Draven's allies or enemies” and also includes the theory, “Could Norman Reedus take on the role of T-Bird?” T-Bird is of course one of the gang members who murder Eric Draven and his girlfriend Shelly during the annual Devil’s Night crime spree in the city of Detroit, the night before their wedding. The premise of the film is that one year later, on the anniversary of their deaths, Draven is awaken from his grave by the tapping of a crow on his headstone. He then learns that he not only has the power of regeneration, but also the ability to see telepathically what the crow sees. After visiting his former home, and the scene of his murder, he paints his face in a parody of a harlequin mask, dresses in costume, and now, guided by the crow, he sets out to avenge his and Shelly’s deaths. The reboot was initially given the greenlight in 2008 and according to script writer Stephen Norrington is planned to be more of a “reinvention” than a remake, “Whereas [Director] Proyas' original was gloriously gothic and stylized, the new movie will be realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style.” During production of the original film, lead actor Brandon Lee, who plays Eric Draven, was accidentally killed on set after being shot by a live round instead of a “dummy” or non-live round, while filming a scene in which his character is shot. The film continued on, with production company Miramax taking on the project and increasing the film's budget in order to utilise CGI techniques, so that they could take previously shot footage and use it to keep Brandon Lee in the film. The upcoming film is being directed by F Javier Gutierrez (Before the Fall) and will star Luke Evans (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) as Eric Draven, who is, so far, the only confirmed casting choice. Production is scheduled to begin in 2014 and as of now, no release date has been set. http://www.Twitter.com/PopWrapped http://www.PopWrapped.Tumblr.com/ http://www.SoundCloud.com/PopWrapped http://www.Facebook.com/PopWrapped http://www.Instagram.com/PopWrapped http://www.Pinterest.com/PopWrapped http://www.YouTube.com/PopWrapped http://www.PopWrapped.wordpress.com/ http://www.PopWrapped.com
