Olga Kurylenko, who is known for her roles in Oblivion opposite Tom Cruise and the 2008 Bond film Quantum of Solace, has landed a role in Russell Crowe’s The Water Diviner.
Not only does the upcoming film, written by Andrew Knight and Andrew Anastasios, mark the directorial debut of Crowe, but the Oscar winner will also star in the film.
The drama follows World War I and follows an Australian father (Crowe) travelling to Turkey in search of his sons who went missing during the Battle of Gallipoli. According to Deadline, Kurylenko is set to play a Turkish woman who owns the hotel that Crowe’s character stays in.
Mister Smith Entertainment CEO David Garrett praised the upcoming film and has faith that it will really take off in the film market. “It is a compelling, emotional story, set across a sweeping landscape, and the strong script together with the casting of international star Olga Kurylenko opposite Russell gives this film huge worldwide appeal.”
Filming will begin in Australia and Turkey this December and is expected to have a 2014 release.
