Olivia Is Back In D.C. On This Week’s ‘Scandal’

Olivia is back in Washington, D.C. on this week’s Scandal! Things are heating up, and no one is telling the whole truth.

Olivia is back, and you’re going to be in trouble. Hey la Hey la Olivia’s back!

In the latest Scandal episode, Olivia is back in D.C. and back to running things in her professional life. Personal life? Not so much. Liv and Jake go for a run through the park, where he explains that this time around, he won’t be waiting up at her apartment every night. Instead, he invites her to come to him when she’s feeling lonely, proposing late night “booty calls.”

Cyrus is waiting for Liv on a bench nearby (because let’s be real, she never runs solely for fitness) and asks for a favor. Cyrus needs Olivia to basically babysit a war hero, who is his equally revered paralyzed wife. They are supposed to appear as a united front at the upcoming State of the Union address, but the thing is they hate each other’s guts and are on the brink of divorce.

Meanwhile, First Lady Mellie Grant is still grieving over the loss of her son, so much so that her weakened mental state has become the talk of the tabloids. Cyrus goes to see her and shows her the latest tabloid of her at her son’s gravesite and tells her that they are calling her crazy. He tries to convince her to go to the State of the Union by comparing his lost love to hers. She says, matter of factly, “It’s not the same.”

Meanwhile, Abby is having her own professional ups and downs. Now that she’s handling the White House press, it seems Olivia has some tall stilettos to fill. Between helping ex-boyfriend David Rosen with his run for attorney general and Mellie’s meltdowns, she definitely has her hands full. The last thing she needs is Cyrus giving her press conference pointers straight from Olivia’s mouth. So Abby calls Liv to tell her that she’s in charge now and to stay out of it. Basically stay in your lane, Liv. Abby comes through and gives Mellie a wonderful speech on how her role as a grieving First Lady is to be a beacon of light for other parents who have lost children. Her point? Suck it up and get back out there, which Mellie does.

So Abby is useful.

I’m pretty sure that drunk Huck is so much better than emo Huck and drunk Huck should make an appearance more often.  Quinn and Huck have a moment in the bathroom, which means that they left the couple that has been trying to kill each other alone. The wife stabs the husband in the leg with a corkscrew and the husband decides that he’s over all of it and starts to pack his things to leave. Liv is able to get the unhappy hero couple to show face at the address. She and President Fitz reunite backstage, after he kicks everyone (umm who’s Gabby?) out of the room. Surprisingly, there are no passionate kisses, but she does come to Fitz’s aid, helping him amp up his important speech. Mellie does show up to the State of the Union to a standing ovation. When she gets back to the room, she kicks off her shoes, rips off her pearl necklace, and collapses to the ground in tears and Fitz runs in to hold her.

Olivia and Jake have spent the entire episode arguing about Jake not staying in a hotel and Olivia refusing to treat their relationship as a booty call.  Olivia goes to Jake’s room and “summons” him over to her, where she is waiting naked. Jake would have to be crazy not to go over to her, and one thing Jake is not is crazy. Wearing some very cute boots, Jake and Liv get down and dirty.

Cyrus’ personal life may also be heating up soon. He met a very attractive man in a bar and, although he refused any advances before, Cyrus went back to the bar and brought the man back to his place.  Before things could get far, Cyrus learns that the man is a sex worker and Cyrus decides that he can’t go through with anything. In a plot twist that any Scandal fan saw coming, he is actually working for Lizzie Bear.

What did you think of last night’s episode? How much longer do you think it’s going to be before Liv and Fitz get back together? Tell us in the comments!
