Olivia Mainville Folk-Rocks It Up On “Slow Delivery”

Olivia Mainville is one of the latest additions to the ever-expanding, ever-awesome Michigan folk scene.

Olivia Mainville is one of the latest additions to the ever-expanding, ever-awesome Michigan folk scene. In the short time that she’s been performing and making music, though, she’s made plenty of ace friends in the industry, including Vince Russo of The Appleseed Collective and Katie Larson and Savannah Buist of The Accidentals.

These three artists provide excellent instrumentation on her debut single, “Slow Delivery,” which is also the final track on her recently released EP, Full Steam Ahead. With Olivia on vocals and guitar, Katie and Savannah on their trademark cello and violin, and Vince doing one heck of a washboard performance, their sound meshes together very well into captivating folk-rock like no other.

The music video below was released on the same day as The Accidental’s “Lemons In Chamomile” and, while it has a simpler task in showing varying closeups of each of the artists as compared to the video in question, the filming on “Slow Delivery” does the song’s slow-building, thoughtfully-composed arrangement well.

Combining the best of gyspy, folk, punk, and jazz into her overarching set, there’s no one really on the scene at all like Olivia, and for that we’re grateful. Keep on being you, Ms. Mainville, and you’ll be going places in no time!
