Olivia Munn fans will have a new show to look forward to, as the actress has been cast in the new military drama, Six. In this new role, Munn will play Gina, a CIA operations officer. Her character rose to this position after starting out as a CIA shooter.

The series, which will be inspired by the real Navy Seal Team Six, is produced by Harvey and Bob Weinstein. It will premier in January on the History Channel as their second scripted series. As the team most famous for killing Osama Bin Laden, Six will focus on the emotional toll being in Team Six takes, as well as the personal lives of the team members and how they work to protect the American people.

Created and written by William Broyles (Cast Away, Apollo 13, Jarhead), alongside his son David Broyles, who is a military special operations veteran. Mitchell Hall, a retired U.S. Navy Seal who also worked on Zero Dark Thirty, is serving as the series technical advisor as well as a producer. The series itself is being produced by A+E Studios in association with Weinstein Television.

Munn is set to appear in all the episodes of the second season, which has started production in Vancouver. She is joining other series newcomers, Eric Ladin, who has been cast as a SEAL who joins the team and changes up the status quo. Other cast members include Barry Sloane, Kyle Schmid, Juan Pablo Raba, Edwin Hodge, Brianne Davis, Nadine Velazquez, Dominic Adams, Jaylen Moore and Lindsley Register.

Comic book fans will be familiar with Munn’s role in the X-Men films, as well as her appearances on The Newsroom, Attack of the Show, and The Daily Show. She is also an author, having written Suck It, Wonder Woman: The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek.
