Oncers, your Ice Queen has arrived! Well, at least now we can see her face. While we already know who will play Kristoff (Scott Michael Foster) and Princess Anna (Elizabeth Lail), the identity of Queen Elsa has been revealed! Georgiana Haig, currently starring on CBS’ Reckless, will take up the staff, sphere, and crown (and epic ice powers) for Once Upon a Time‘s fourth season.
The characters and their backstories, which will be pulled (loosely or otherwise, we do not yet know) from Disney’s Frozen, are based off of Has Christian Anderson’s short story, The Snow Queen. Originally a dark, twisted fairytale of stolen children and youthful friendship, Disney turned it into one of sisterly love and familial affection. It will be interesting to see where the OUAT crew decides to take the story.
According to TV Fanatic, the fourth season will open with Elsa fully aware of the damage her powers can cause. Her backstory will be darker, more haunted, having previously cast an eternal winter with “just a few touches of her ‘chilling’ finger.”
Keep an eye on your TV guides, Oncers! Once Upon a Time and these new recurring characters will come to our screens in September.
