Grab your climbing gear, because Once Upon A Time is taking us to the base of Rapunzel’s tower! The creative team has already released several stills, picturing Rapunzel deep in conversation with Prince Charming!
Creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis promise us that after the recent success of Disney’s Tangled, the Enchanted Forrest will have a different type of princess locked away in a tower. Alexandra Metz has already been cast as the hidden away beauty.
Kritsis revealed their motives for the casting choice. “We went a little darker and freakier. A little more horror story in the vein of [the 2004 movie] The Grudge.”
While it is already confirmed that Rapunzel will receive two visitors in her tower, we have yet to discover the identity of the second. Who will this mysterious hooded stranger be?
With the Wicked Witch of the West bringing darkness back to the Enchanted Forrest, and Rapunzel more open to her darker nature, it will be interesting to see where the creators take us this season. Perhaps Regina and the Wicked Witch will have a rivalry, and Rapunzel is the prize?
But Metz isn’t the only new face we’ll be seeing in the third season. Eric Lang has already been cast as the young Prince Leopold, and Rose McGowan will reprise her role as young Cora. And of course, Rebecca Mader will be bringing OZ to the fairytale family as the Wicked Witch of the West.
What will all these new charactes have in common? How will they all connect, and how will this effect Emma’s return? Season 3 cannot come soon enough!
