For the official unveiling of One Direction’s sculptures we’ll have to wait a bit longer, but today we already got a small taste of what they might be like! The official Madame Tussauds youTube channel, uploaded two videos about the UK’s most successful boy band and their opinions on their sculptures, including an interesting look behind the scenes.
One of the artists, Dave Burks, was particularly impressed with Niall, who was, according to Burks, not only a very “nice guy,” but was also so captivated by the work of art that he decided to help the artists by polishing his own sculpture! “He seemed really impressed with the process and was really interested in how we did it,” Burks said in the behind the scenes video. “He was far too impressed with actually sculpting himself, so I had to stop him from doing his own portrait, so I could finish him off.”
The artist had nothing but praise for Niall, as he clearly appreciated that the famous musician was so genuinely interested in his work. In the video, we can even see Niall as he is working on his own face, which seems to be turning out perfectly well by the way!
Once completed, the sculptures of the boys will first be unveiled in London on the 18th of April, after which they will be moved to New York in July. Later on they will be transported to Sydney, where they will then stay for a couple months.
