Oscar Isaac is excited to be playing God — or, at least, it feels that way in his upcoming role as titular villain Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse. In a recent interview, Isaac stated:
For me, more than anything, it was about being guilty of nostalgia. I was a big fan of Star Wars. I was also a big fan of X-Men, particularly the villain Apocalypse, so when those parts came around and there was interest for me to do them, I was excited about it. I was excited to explore those worlds. There is something more mythical … basically, you’re playing God. It’s a challenge.
Issac is known mostly as an indie actor, getting noticed in 2014 for his role as Llewyn Davis in Inside Llewyn Davis. Joining Fox’s X-Men franchise is a bit of a departure for him, and it looks as though he has enjoyed it. Set pictures so far have revealed that a very serious — and very blue! — Apocalypse will be gracing our screens.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to be released in the US on May 27, 2016.
