Parents Television Council Outraged Over Sons of Anarchy Sex Montage | sons of anarchy

Kurt Sutter, creator of Sons of Anarchy, has never been one to shy away from controversy. In fact, it’s probably safe to say that Sutter enjoys hearing that he’s managed to offend yet another organization. Sutter and the men of SAMCRO have landed on the Parents Television Council radar for a second time. This time it’s Charlie Hunnam’s derrière causing the PTC to clutch their pearls. The first two minutes of last week’s episode featured a montage of sexual activity between various characters. Among them were Jax Teller in bed with the latest addition to the Diosa Norte family, Tig Trager and the lovely Venus Van Dam sharing a tender moment, and Lieutenant Jarry with her favorite bad boy, Chibs. In a statement released by the PTC, President Tim White says:
It’s official: In order to watch cable news, ESPN, Disney or the History Channel, every family in America must now also pay for pornography on FX. Last week’s episode of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ opened with the most sexually explicit content we’ve ever seen on basic cable, content normally found on premium subscription networks like HBO or Showtime. Families should not be forced to underwrite pornography. Cable Choice is a solution whose time has come, and there could hardly be a better example of it than this. We call on Congress, the FCC and the Federal Courts to give cable consumers real choice when it comes to deciding which networks they actually want to purchase.
The last time Sons of Anarchy got on the PTC’s bad side, it was due to a plot involving a school shooting. At that time, Sutter responded in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, stating “I would imagine these are not evil people, but they are just not very intuitive or intelligent individuals. It’s such a small and simple view of process. The fact that people want to be monitoring what my children watch is terrifying. Whenever that stuff crosses the line into censorship, it’s just scary … not just on a creative level but a personal level.” It’s been more than a year since the PTC expressed outrage over an episode of Sons. During that time, viewers have seen brutal murders committed with kitchen utensils, eyeballs gouged out, fingers chopped off, and gun battles that resulted in multiple deaths. Apparently the PTC was able to overlook those but decided to draw the line at naked, writhing bodies in the throes of passion.
