Paul Walker’s autopsy results were revealed today, confirming that the actor died from impact and fire in the fatal accident that occurred last Saturday in Southern California.

The Fast & Furious star was a passenger in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT driven by his friend, Roger Rodas, which smashed into a light pole and a tree, then exploded, instantly taking the lives of Rodas and Walker.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused Rodas to lose control of the vehicle. So far it has been said that speed was the reason.

Results of the toxicology tests will take six to eight weeks.

Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told CNN that it is not known how long each man lived after the crash as the fire began. However, it is possible that Walker survived the initial impact but died in the resulting fire. Winter added that “that information may be included when full autopsy reports are released in several weeks”.

Walker was filming the seventh instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise, which started in September and was on break for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Universal Pictures announced that production has been shut down for an unspecified time.

“At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on ‘Fast & Furious 7‘ for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise”.

The studio also said it will donate a percentage of proceeds of the home entertainment release of Fast & Furious 6 to Walker’s charity.

“With the passing of Paul, the world has lost a man who spent a great deal of his life in service of others. We share in the deep grief of his family, friends and the countless fans who love him”.
