It’s been two years since little monsters around the world have had new music from “Born This Way” singer, Lady Gaga. That’s all about to change.
In a statement on her Facebook page, Gaga announced some key dates surrounding the release of her fourth studio album, ARTPOP. The first single will hit the airwaves and playlists across the world, on August 19. The full album will be available for pre-order on September 1 and with the official release date scheduled for November 11.
The album release will also include a new app that has been created for the project by TechHaus and it definitely has our curiosity peaked, "The app itself is a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion and technology with a new interactive worldwide community — ‘the auras.’ Altering the human experience with social media, we bring ARTculture into POP in a reverse Warholian expedition."
Let’s hope this expedition is a little more successful then Gaga’s first half of the year, when she had to cancel 22 shows due to a hip injury. Billboard reported that refunds for those shows (over 200,000 tickets) were worth an estimated $25 million; that was one costly injury!
Gaga will return to the stage just in time to boost pre-sales in September when she performs at the iTunes Festival in London. “The Haus of Gaga team are tipped to have a budget of £500,000 ($759,000) on the production,” according to reports from British newspaper The Sun.
The Facebook post, though artistically cryptic, goes on to give us a hint of what to expect from the album; “ARTPOP musically mirrors Gaga’s creative process as she passes through the medium of each artist she collaborates with, scoring a blueprint on her journey. The result, a ‘rage’ of electronic passion and fury, defining each artistic process from beginning to end, ARTPOP could mean anything.”
If Gaga’s past gives us any indication of the potential “anything” ARTPOP promises, we are sure to be on the edge of our seats with anticipation and wonderment by the time November rolls around.
