Peter Capaldi is among the stars that are joining forces in a new project aiming to discover the secrets of art history. Capaldi will take part in the series, along with Comedian Frank Skinner and actor Alan Cumming, which is made in association with the Tate. According to BBC, the series, named Unlock Art, "will ‘unlock big ideas that have shaped art history’, bringing art to a wider audience.” The series is a collaboration between Tate and Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts. According to, "[In] the first film in the series; writer, comedian, actor and art enthusiast Frank Skinner explores Performance Art and its origins; from DAD and Surrealism through to Surrealism through to Yoko Ono and Joseph Beuys.” The videos will be released once a month, can be watched on YouTube, and will allow the viewers to go an a journey through various art types and themes, including the history of nude and humour in art, and making art more accessible to a wider world. Tate’s Director of Media and Audiences, Marc Sands said, "Our goal is to promote understanding and enjoyment of art. With an exciting roster of presenters, and the imaginative and creative content of the films, we want to connect people who might not have considered some of the stories before with contemporary art.” The online public will vote on topics for the last video in the series in 2014.
