Grab your favorite sonic screwdriver and secure that scarf! At the 19th National Television Awards, Jenna Coleman was quoted giving the scoop on the eighth season of the Doctor Who sci-fi classic.

Coleman claims that Peter Capaldi is “going to be wonderful” and to expect “exciting times ahead.”

Does this mean more wibbly wobbly, timey whimey? We hope so!

Coleman plays the Doctor’s latest companion aboard the TARDIS, Clara “Oswin” Oswald. She spoke on behalf of the BBC team when she said, “[Peter is] great – of course we all know he’s going to be wonderful.

“It’s been great to get up on our feet and get started – we just seem to have taken off like a rocket.”

This seems to be a common theme with the British favorite. The most recent season, ending with the tearful departure of Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor, was full of action and adventure. Nothing was too big or too small for him, and there was always a universe to save!

Capaldi’s Doctor is older than the other actors we’ve seen of late, but that doesn’t mean we won’t love him! Even though he’s a new person, pieces of who he was will still shine through.

This is only one of the many reasons Doctor Who was named and awarded Best Drama at the NTAs. Matt Smith even won the award for Best Drama Performance! Unfortunately, Smith could not attend the ceremony, and it was Coleman who stepped up to accept his award alongside head writer, Steven Moffat.

“It’s been such a fantastic year… this past year for Who,” she said. “This is wonderful – to be able to take this back to everybody that is grafting as speak, doing series 8.”

Keep your ears opened for the return of the TARDIS! Doctor Who returns to the BBC and other affiliated channels later this year!
