Fans of Tintin can rejoice!

Director/producer Peter Jackson has confirmed that there are plans to create a sequel to the 2011 movie The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

Peter Jackson sure is a busy man, and sometimes that means you have to make sacrifices. In this case, this meant that those “pesky” Hobbit movies came in the way of a Tintin sequel. The sequel is rumoured to be based on the stories The Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun. In a short interview with BadTaste.it, however, he revealed that he definitely plans on picking the project up again:

“It was held up by The Hobbit,” he explained, “but we have every intention of doing another Tintin movie and it’s just waiting on me to be done with these Hobbit movies… these pesky Hobbit movies that we have to get out of the way, and then we can go back to doing Tintin.”

That means that after finishing The Hobbit: There and Back Again, the third installment in the successful trilogy which is expected to be released in December 2014, production on the second Tintin movie should begin quite quickly!

Speaking of those pesky Hobbit movies, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has recently been released in cinemas worldwide, so that means that there is definitely something else to watch while we wait for Tintin to return to the big screen!
