The Pink Slips Rock Dublin Castle, Camden

The Pink Slips played Dublin Castle shortly after their success at the Download Festival. We have some awesome video coverage–check it out!

The Pink Slips made a great impact with their first intimate gig in London’s Camden on the 18th of June.

You may remember a few months back when I wrote about the Seattle Pop-punk band fronted by 17 year old Grace McKagan -AKA GRAVE as she likes to be called (her alter ego). The band also features Trent Peltz- Keyboard and backing vocals,  Keenan Bevans – Drums, Charlie Wood- Guitar, and Charlie Anastasis- Bass.

Their debut EP was released late last year.

The Pink Slips made their debut festival appearance at last weekend’s Download Festival (13-14th June) and last night they played at the Dublin Castle in Camden which holds a capacity of 150 people. What a fantastic atmosphere!

They may not have a full album as of yet, but the band was definitely the highlight of the evening, judging by how the crowd responded to their performance.

After getting our arms stamped, we were asked who we came to see. Obviously I said, “The Pink Slips, of course!” in which he nodded his head with a smirk.

Overall, the performance was electric, Grace commanded the stage with her wonderful presence, her ultra ego “Grave” easily taking over showing a confident young woman who enjoys interacting with her audiences as well as her band mates.

Even incorporating a mixture of Debbie Harry/ Gwen Stefani persona to her performance with a dash of sexy Madonna, the Pink Slips’ sound is a blend of pure punk-pop.

Performing songs from the released EP Say L’OR Venus such as Foxy Feline and Googlie Eyes definitely got the crowd going as a few other songs included in the mix.

Despite the mic issue which was in no way the band’s fault as at times it was hard to hear her voice, the band did a great 20 min set and really had the crowd jumping with excitement including a nice outdo of Grace covered in fake blood. Nice touch.

Merchandise included the band’s first official T-shirts and copies of the their EP.
