Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 On Full Sail, Begins Production In Queensland

Pirates 5 has begun production in Queensland, expected for release in 2017.

The fifth film in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise commenced full production in Queensland, Australia last Tuesday (Feb. 17).

Titled Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the movie will divide the shoot between the Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast for sound stage work, and on-location shooting in Queensland.

Johnny Depp will return to his now-iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates 5, while Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem joins the cast as the newest villain, named Captain Salazar. Like previous films, the movie will revolve around a mysterious object or relic that the pirates seek to find. This time, it is Poseidon’s trident.

Orlando Bloom will also be reprising his role as Will Turner, one of the original main characters in the first three films. Sadly though, Keira Knightly is not joining; hopefully she’ll appear in the sixth film.

In a new twist, everybody is looking forward to Will Turner being joined by his son who, by all accounts, is not a kid but a young man, portrayed by The Giver star Brenton Thwaites.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to be released on July 7, 2017.
