Team New Age Wins Fortnite Grand Finals

Teammates stand ready for battle

Two players win some cash and street cred over Halloween Weekend

While many were spending Halloween weekend getting dressed up for parties and handing out candy, some players with Team New Age had other things on their mind. Professional players Mero and Muz were preparing for battle in the official Fortnite Grand Finals.

All that prep work was worth it too. Mero and Muz won a cool 150,000 dollars.

The atmosphere was most definitely celebratory, according to Kirsh, one of the Team New Age founders.

“We all live in the same house, and there’s a delay you know with streaming,” says Kirsh, one of the Team New Age founders. “We heard Muz yell really loud, and we all ran in there and congratulated him.”

The hard work paid off in the tournament, but there’s even more work that goes in to becoming a successful professional player. It’s not just about the kills either; it’s about being able to show you have multiple skills besides gameplay.

“Like anything else in the world, you have to put the time and effort in. Muz plays about 8-10 hours a day. You have to master your craft, and make sure you’re active on social media, posting clips of your best kills in a montage. It’s all about being the full package.” says Kirsh.

Originally brought in from Australia and Mexico to live in the official Team New Age mansion, Muz and Mero are ready for what comes next. The next big game will be the Grand Royale, and both are looking forward to the opportunity.

Be sure to watch out for Team New Age, because the game is just getting started for this fairly new team.

“We’re ready to win again in 2 weeks. Muz is now the first player to win on more than one continent. And Mero has 3 championships on the East Coast.” Kirsh says.

The team has already played well enough to auto-qualify them for the FNCS season Grand Finals, so if you weren’t able to catch them over Halloween weekend, all is not lost. They’ll be playing in the Grand Royale, so keep an eye out for information here.
