May the Fourth Be With You all.
Fun fact: did you know that May the Fourth was first used after Margaret Thatcher was sworn in as Britain’s first woman Prime Minister on May 4th, 1979? An ad on a newspaper paid by her party had the headline “May the Fourth be with you, Maggie. Congratulations”. Cool, huh?
Today is a very special day for all Star Wars fans, and we have come up with this cool list of the ten most awesome Star Wars gadgets you can get right now, to help you celebrate.
Check it out below:
Of course! Any Star Wars fan knows that the movies have to be watched repeatedly, and the best way to do that is to have all movies on hand. You can get a box set of episodes I through VI here. The latest movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released last month, and you can get it here.
You can thank your (death) stars for this amazing bundle that PS4 has developed. The Limited Edition Star Wars Battlefront PS4 bundle contains a console with Darth Vader’s face painted on it, a Darth Vader controller, the Star Wars Battlefront game and four downloadable games. Another favorite is the Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars pack. The pack comes with the game, the base and two figures (Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker), and you can purchase many more figures separately, including a recently-released Rey and Finn pack.
There are plenty of books based on the Star Wars movie series-- children’s books, photo books, Lego Star Wars books, you name it. We do have a couple of favorites, though. Jeffrey Brown’s collection -- Goodnight Darth Vader, Darth Vader and Friends, Darth Vader and Son, and Vader’s Little Princess -- which tells the story of what would have happened if Darth Vader raised Luke and Leia, is funny and charming. For the super fan, you can get the original technical drawings from the movies in J.W. Rinzler’s Star Wars: The Blueprints. The book is a bit expensive but well worth it if you are a big fan or into engineering and design.
These nifty gadgets will make you want to spend more time in the kitchen -- or at least will look pretty on the countertop. Among our favorites: Death Star Waffle Maker, Star Wars Cookie Cutters, Lightsaber Ice Pop Makers, R2-D2 and C-3PO Shakers and these awesome Lightsaber BBQ Tongs.
There is nothing cuter than BB-8 (Sorry R2!). And you can now have your own BB-8 at home. The Sphero Star Wars BB-8 Droid not only rolls around, but it listens and reacts to its owner’s voice, it can be guided through a smart phone and -- its best feature in my opinion -- it can record and show virtual holographic videos. You can get it here.
Death Star Planetarium
This Death Star Planetarium will make star watching indoors possible. This fun and educational toy projects planets from the Star Wars galaxy and stars from the Earth's night sky.
There are many, many, many Star Wars toys in the market. You can probably find anything your heart desires, but we really like the Legos. From small sets to tremendously expensive big sets (the Death Star), you can get almost everything seen in the movies but Lego-fied.
Anything and everything from socks to robes to cufflinks to baby onesies. There is plenty of apparel for one to wear and proudly show our Star Wars side. The feminist in us loves this “I don’t need rescuing” Leia shirt; the romantic in us really likes these “I love you”, “I know” his-and-hers t-shirts; and the geek in us needs this Big Bang Theory/Star Wars shirt.
Is there anything better than Lightsabers? I don’t think so. You can get pretty inexpensive plastic ones or fancy ones that look like the real deal. These ones are our favorites. These electronic lightsabers have battle-clash lights, humming sounds and rumble motion effects. Plus there are a wide variety of them -- almost one from each main character.
