Today, we celebrate John Travolta’s 60th birthday, and all the greatness associated with it!  From Danny Zuko, to Vinnie Barbarino, to Vincent Vega and so many more, Travolta has made us laugh, cry, and even cringe with his onscreen dazzling smile and killer dance moves.

But even with all of his onscreen triumphs, we also can’t forget the tragedy that struck in January 2009 when Travolta’s 16 year old son Jett passed away following a seizure while on vacation in the Bahamas.

Travolta recently sat down at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, where he answered questions about his life and career.  Opening up about Jett’s death, Travolta said he “didn’t want to wake up” afterwards and that the Church of Scientology helped him through the rough time.

“I will forever be grateful to Scientology for supporting me for two years solid, I mean Monday through Sunday,” he explained.  He went on to say the Church helped him work through different techniques to cope with his grief and loss.

Travolta handled the interview with the dignity and grace we’ve all come to expect of him, speaking further about his admiration of Quentin Tarantino for taking a chance on him in Pulp Fiction.  The film re-sparked Travolta’s career after a slump and shot him back into the public eye.  Thank goodness for that chance because we can’t imagine anyone else as Vincent Vega!  And of course no one could have pulled off Edna Turnblad in the 2007 remake of Hairspray any better than our Saturday Night Fever disco dancing Travolta!

He may be 60, but he’ll always be teen heartthrob Danny Zuko to us.  Happy Birthday, John Travolta!
