It's not every day that you get offered the chance to become a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, so if you ever find yourself in NYC, you might want to take the chance!
Located in Discovery Times Square, the former home of the famous Harry Potter: The Exhibition, the Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is like no other experience you have ever had.
The exhibit starts off as you get your very own, personalized ID card that will help you on your journey to become a certified S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Afterwards, you are taken to a room where you are given security clearance and later briefed on your mission: to become the next top S.H.I.E.L.D. agent by going through their Scientific Training And Tactical Intelligence Operative Network program, or S.T.A.T.I.O.N.
After your briefing, you are lead to a room where many of the costumes of your favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. agents can be seen, including Hawkeye, Black Widow, Couslon, and Nick Fury. Each of them also come with their own interactive panel that gives you a background as to how they got started in S.H.I.E.L.D and their many accomplishments.
The next room is the Captain America room, where the very tank where he was injected with the super soldier serum is. Pictures of Peggy, Howard, and the original S.H.I.E.L.D. founders are also there. Here you do various exercises and see how you compare to Captain America. Exercises included a hand pedal and timing your reaction time to defeating monsters and how hard your hand grip is. Toward the end of this section, you were able to see Captain America's current and vintage shield as well as various World War II era military items.
The next was the Hulk room where we were able to see how gamma radiation affected Bruce's physical and mental structure. Also included there is a tesseract reactor which allows you to activate the tesseract for a short amount of time and show how much it affects the objects around you.
On the way, you are able to see different armors and weapons from the battle of New York, including Loki's helmet and Chitauri Scepter.
Next up: the Iron Man room. In this one you are able to see the blueprints of the different Iron Man suits, see the arc reactor, and the Mark III. In this room you are able to try on the suit for yourself in a virtual game where you can both fly and shoot using the suit. In the next game, you are using the head piece of the arc reactor and your eyes to shoot your enemies. Both are a lot of fun and you get really fun pictures if your ID is connected to your Facebook, which you can do at the beginning of the experience.
The last room is the Thor room, where you are able to see Thor's armor and a virtual image of Mjolnir (the real one is with Thor). You can look at the stars across our universe and beyond, thanks to NASA, and to learn more about Asgard and the Nine Realms. As you exit the room, you are congratulated on becoming a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and even have the chance to purchase your own S.H.I.E.L.D. agent ID card.
Overall, the entire exhibit is an amazing experience for Avengers fans! All the rooms are very interactive and only took a little over an hour to complete in all. If you're not much of an Avengers fan, you might not find this exhibit too exciting. One of the greatest parts of it all is understanding the science behind the Avengers and seeing all the props and costumes of the movies.
The Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is currently at Discovery Times Square and will be there until January 4th, 2015.
