Funk/soul band SugarBad are bringing an intoxicating old-school sound into 2015 with their single, “In Case.”
The music video is stylistically simple, featuring Lisa Ramey’s warm and confident vocals, backed by dynamic instruments. She and the band perform inside an apartment with a plain red-brick wall as the backdrop, epitomizing the confined, yet still endearing, feel of New York City that many of us are accustomed to.
My favorite parts are the occasional intimate close-ups of the members, each vibing to the song with as much energy as much as Ramey is.
The video ends with a stunning shot of the group walking down an empty alley, the buildings around them alternately lit by orange-hued streetlights and cast in shadow.
