Based in the tiny state of Rhode Island, up-and-coming band Never Coming Home’s musical dreams are anything but small. The quartet specializes in tongue-in-cheek pop-punk tunes, with a touch of emo inspiration.
Overall, Never Coming Home blends the familiar catchiness of mid-2000’s radio punk with the intensity of modern underground rock, creating songs designed to rock out to. They cater to the ear of someone with All Time Low and Fall Out Boy CDs in their glove box, while still winning the hearts of dedicated Neck Deep fanatics.
They’re young, talented, and ready to blast through your stereo. After meeting at the School of Rock in Seekonk, Massachusetts in October 2018, the band began collaborating before officially forming in March 2019. Lead vocalist Anthony Hefler has a unique ability to command a stage, a talent that is further elevated by his partnership with drummer Merritt Cathers, bassist Derek Lane-Bell, and lead guitarist Aidan Sullivan. Their new single “South Station” is streaming everywhere.
“I wrote “South Station” before covid actually hit so I was probably about 17 or 16 at the time. It’s a song I wrote at a frustrating time in my life and I feel like that childlike frustration of not really understanding how love works but wanting it so badly is something a lot of kids understand but can’t express. “
…”I remember after writing the lyrics and chord progression, I brought it to Derek on an afternoon in like Spring and just said like “Hey I don’t know what you think of this but I’m kinda into it”. And then that same day we went downstairs to the garage and wrote and finished the song in like an hour before the other guys got to my house. It came out so naturally because the feeling was there it just needed someone else to drag it out!
‘South Station’ by Never Coming Home is out now on all DSPs, worldwide. Be sure to follow Never Coming Home’s journey on Instagram, and Twitter.
