President Barack Obama is often considered one of the ‘cooler’ Presidents that the country has had over the years and, this past Wednesday (June 24), he proved himself when he silenced a heckler who attended an LGBT pride event at the White House.
As he began to speak, a woman, later identified as Jennicet Gutierrez, called out:
“President Obama, release all LGBTQ immigrants from detention and stop all deportations.”
Obama then proceeded to tell the woman:
“Hey. Listen. You’re in my house…shame on ya. You shouldn’t be doing this.”
Gutierrez, however, wouldn’t be silenced and, at Obama’s instruction, was removed from the event, which then continued as normal and was attended by Vice President Joe Biden and many other lawmakers.
Obama’s declaration that “We’ve got a lot to celebrate” would, just a few days later, be strengthened by the Supreme Court’s ruling to make same-sex marriages legal in all 50 states.
