Things are even more complex now that Alex and Natalie have concluded the terrorist could be anyone at Quantico, not just the trainees. Small ray of hope? Natalie believes Alex's story now.
Hannah, Ryan's ex, is in charge of the area that Alex used to work in at the field office. Awkward is an understatement; Hannah hates her and has reduced her to clerical duties.
The only way to free Natalie is to break into the server room and steal some data the terrorist demands. Natalie employs a tactic they all learned in Quantico--she exploits Ryan's weakness to steal his access card. The data turns out to be a list of presidential candidates, their schedules, and their security details.
They plant a worm in the file before sending it to the terrorist. The belt of explosives deactivates. However, when they use the worm to track where the file is opened, the plan backfires and Natalie is killed in the ensuing explosion.
This is a turning point in the show - Alex has a meltdown, running to Ryan and convincing him to admit her to a psych ward. However, the terrorist reveals that he's tracking her every movement and, terrified that he'll kill Ryan too, Alex agrees to follow all of his instructions from them on.
