After finishing a very active 2014, Dolly Parton has wasted no time in kicking off the new year with a host of projects. She keeps her publicist busy too.
Kirt Webster told The Hollywood Billboard that Dolly has a big year planned. “2015 is going to be a great year for Dolly Parton,” he said. “Dolly, is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Dollywood, writing for the upcoming NBC movies, will be performing four shows at Dollywood for the Imagination Library.”
He added, “She will open the DreamMore Resort in the fall. The country music icon has so many things to be excited about and that’s just the beginning.”
Courtesy of Webster PRThe 69-year old entertainer will mark the 30th anniversary of her Pigeon Forge theme park, Dollywood, and also will open the first of four DreamMore Resorts. All the resorts will include a special Dolly Suite designed totally by Dolly herself, and the next one is scheduled to open in June.
Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort is situated on 100 acres along the foothills of the Smokey Mountains. The 300-room resort is designed to be an iconic Southern gathering spot, within an easy walk of Dolly’s Splash Country. A tram also will deliver guests to Dollywood, just a few short minutes away.

In 1995, she launched The Imagination Library , which delivers a book a month to children from birth to age five regardless of their family’s economic situation. The program was originally launched in Tennessee, but expanded to include children throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. More than 750,000 children each month in 1,600 communities receive a book from her Imagination Library. Four Dolly concerts in Pigeon Forge are scheduled on August 8-9 to benefit the Library.
Dollywood’s popular Showcase of Stars concert series returns as part of the award-winning park’s 30th anniversary season. Showcase of Stars seeks to garner $1 million to benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Dolly will be joined on stage by several of her performing artist friends and for the first time since 2003, Showcase of Stars will bring some of the biggest names in entertainment to Dollywood.
It looks like Dolly will also be in Hollywood more over the weeks to come. Dolly signed in January with NBC to develop her songs into films. The first is slated for Christmas release and will be based on her hit song, “Coat of Many Colors”. Click here for more details on the upcoming seven picture deal.
Dolly’s most recent concert schedule, the Blue Smoke Tour, took her all over the world where crowds continued to fill stadiums and arenas to hear her angelic voice. The CD release of Blue Smoke made Dolly’s 42nd career album and was the fifth album recorded on her label, Dolly Records (in collaboration with Sony Masterworks). The album has sold over 300,000 units to date. Blue Smoke debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Country Charts and No. 6 on the Billboard Pop Charts making it Dolly’s highest debuting solo album to date.
Dolly last hit the big screen with Queen Latifah in 2012 with Joyful Noise. Later that year, Dolly appeared in Hollywood to Dollywood, the multiple award-winning documentary that shared a message of love and acceptance. She then hit another cinematic home-run, playing herself in the 2014 Lifetime movie, A Country Christmas Story.

Her social media presence alone proves that Dolly is here to stay, with over 3.5 million Twitter followers and almost 3 million fans on her Facebook page. Dolly even has made the transition into viral fame. Her ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video alone reached over two million viewers on Youtube.
With 25 #1 singles, eight Top 40 pop hits, five Golden Globe nominations, two Oscar nominations, eight Grammy wins, and over 3,000 written songs to her credit, and a theme park, she is as powerful today as she ever was. And, let’s not forget more than 100 million records sold. Dolly is truly the Queen of Country and beyond!
