The search for the actor to portray Freddie Mercury in his biopic continues, and it seems like the band itself isn’t entirely impartial! In an appearance on The One Show, drummer Roger Taylor revealed that their preference went out to Skyfall actor Ben Whishaw.
It has been a few months now since Borat actor Sacha Baron Cohen left the project, and since then not much had been said, except for the odd rumour and a bit of criticism from the band towards the actor who abandoned ship before production had begun. Still, it seems like Brian May and Roger Taylor are determined to get this thing started soon enough now!
During the appearance on The One Show, the drummer teased the band’s preference by hinting that the initials of the actor they wanted were “BW”. When presenter Alex Jones suggested Ben Whishaw, Taylor replied saying “Well, we hope so.”
Whishaw is next expected to appear alongside Billie Piper in a TV movie titled Foxtrot that will be broadcast on Sky.
