If you’re an Australian fan of American pop-rock group R5, you may want to clear your calendar for August 2. Why I hear you ask? Let band members Riker and Rocky answer that… “We’re getting #LOUD in Sydney, Australia!!!! August 2nd at The Metro Theatre! VIP Pre Sale starts July 3rd on http://r5rocks.com/tour”
If you’re an Australian and have not heard of American pop-rock group R5, allow me to change that.
R5 is made up of three brothers, their sister and their best friend. Riker Lynch is on bass guitar and lead vocals. Rocky Lynch is on lead guitar and lead vocals. Ross Lynch is on rhythm guitar and lead vocals. Rydel Lynch is on keyboard and backing vocals. Rounding them out, Ellington Ratliff is on drums and percussion.
Their music is described as bright and sunny and the band wants nothing more than to leave listeners feeling happy. As Riker puts it “Our basic mindset was that we wanted to make everyone feel excited and happy,” “It’s about driving down the highway with the top down and blasting music. We didn’t want anything too deep and dark.”
Their 4 song EP, Loud, grabs your ears right from the start with the title track. Second on the list is the doo-wop-influenced “ I Want You Bad” which tells the classic tale of wanting what you can’t have, someone else’s girlfriend. “Fallin’ For You” lists all the reasons that one special girl is so special. Lastly is the upbeat ballad “Here Comes Forever” which uses clever movie references to sum up the perfect romance.
If you’re new to the R5 family, or are coming across them for the first time, and thought to yourself that you have seen Riker and Ross somewhere before, chances are you may have seen them on your television.
Riker, or Warbler Jeff, is a member of the Dalton Academy Warblers on the hit show Glee. Ross stars in the Disney Channel original series Austin & Ally.
Whether your fans of old, fans of new or just want to see some good live rock music, make sure you’re at The Metro Theatre in Sydney on August 2 and don’t forget, VIP tickets go on Pre Sale this Wednesday, July 3 on R5’s website.
