Less than a month before the concert, Miley Cyrus’ show, a part of her sex-crazed Bangerz tour, has been banned in the Dominican Republic
The former Hannah Montana
star’s actions have lead to a government-run group to ban her show
, which was scheduled for September 13 in Santo Domingo. It would have been her first show in the Dominican Republic.
The CNEPR, the Dominican Republic’s national entertainment and radio control, said in a statement that Cyrus uses “language and behavior that are incitements to sex and violence.” It also states that she uses “unacceptable visuals and words, phrases with a double meaning, the justification of crime, violence and acts offensive to civility, incitement to have sex, lesbian sex, and the use of inappropriate objects in public.” The concert is “an attack on personal integrity and violates the rights of children and adolescents.”
A poll showed that only 46 percent of people disagreed with the ban, saying it violates freedom of expression. The majority agree with the group's decision.
Since leaving Hannah Montana
behind, Miley Cyrus has been known for her sexual and inappropriate antics, such as smoking a marijuana joint at the MTV European Awards last November, twerking with Robin Thicke at the MTV Awards in August of 2013, and wearing inadequate clothing on and off stage.
